Details on Lengths and Rests

Sometimes you'll see something like this below - a measure with a whole rest with a number on top. What's the number for? It tells you how many times you should repeat that whole rest. It says five on it, so think of it as five measures with a whole rest. If there was a seven on top, you'll have to repeat it seven times. It's a no-brainer.

As you go through the following two pieces of music, be sure to keep in mind what I taught you. Think of each rest as its note counterpart. After you've tried out the music, click on "Download MIDI File" and play it to listen to the correct way to play the music.

You're done with lesson #10. Click on "Index" to get back to the Lesson index. Good Luck!
